The Day You Stop Learning

This one goes for life just about as much as it does for your career in the film industry.

There is always more to be learned, more skills to hone, more ideas to understand.

I have been on the most boring shows in the world and I still found something I could learn. And, mind you, learning isn’t always from watching someone do something amazing. Often, it’s from watching someone do something wrong and realizing there is a better way. Genius and brilliance are overused words, and after 30 some years in this industry, I can count on my fingers the amount of times I saw something truly incredible. But watching people struggle, watching them fail, or struggling and failing yourself, that’s, more often than not, what you learn from, and it can happen at any moment, any day, and any time. You just need to keep your eyes open and be aware.

And the moment you think you know it all (you don't by the way), it's time to move on.

The day you stop learning? You are done.
